Why am I needed?

The Franklin County Board of Elections is committed to conducting fair, impartial, and accurate elections that are well organized and professionally managed.

The Board hires about 5,000 poll workers to staff and operate polling locations throughout Franklin County.

How Do I Qualify?

  • Be a registered Franklin County Voter
  • Attend an interview/training session
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Have never been convicted of a felony
  • Be willing to work approximately 15 hours on Election Day

When am I needed?

Voting locations must be fully staffed for all elections.

  • Primary Elections are held on the first Tuesday, after the first Monday in May. (Presidential Primaries – Date determined by the Ohio Legislature)
  • General Elections are held on the first Tuesday, after the first Monday in November

Where will I work?

Voting locations can be in schools, township halls, libraries, and churches that are ADA compliant.

How much will I be paid?

  • Voting Location Manager and Voting Location Deputy
    • Election Day: $133.72
    • Interview/Training Session: $80.00
  • Roster, Paper Ballot, and Machine Judges
    • Election Day: $133.72
    • Interview/Training Session: $60.00
  • Monday Night Setup
    • Team Leader: $90.00
    • Deputy Team Leader: $60.00
    • Team Member: $55.00
  • Practice Makes Perfect Open House 
    • All PEO's: $30.00
  • VLM Material Pick-Up/Drop Off
    • Voting Location Manager: Mileage for both pick-up and drop-off

What do I have to do?

  • Participate in early setup at voting location at 6 p.m. on Monday night before Election Day
  • Arrive at assigned location at 5:30 a.m. on Election Day
  • Open the voting location
  • Process and assist voters on Election Day
  • Close the voting location

What is a 'RIDE ALONG'?

  • A poll worker who accompanies the Voting Location Manager to deliver Election Day supplies on Election Night to the Board of Elections
  • A member of a different political party than the Voting Location Manager
