The Franklin County Board of Elections offers the opportunity of being a precinct election official. The Board hires about 5,500 dedicated, community-minded individuals as Precinct Election Officials, to operate the polling locations each election day.
Youth at the Booth, a partnership between the Franklin County Board of Elections and Kids Voting Central Ohio, gives high school seniors a real life opportunity to see the election process in action by serving as poll workers. The experience motivates these students to be active voters and citizens and to influence their peers as well. Students may participate with the permission of their school district, teachers and parents. They must be at least 17 years old, a high school senior and a student in good standing. Eighty to ninety percent of the students who take part say they will vote in and also serve as poll workers in future elections as a result of their Youth at the Booth Experience.

Launched in 2004, Champions of Democracy is an ongoing effort by the Franklin County Board of Elections, corporate and civic leaders to recruit and train poll workers. More than 5,500 are sometimes needed to work the polls on Election Day in our county. The program asks public and private organizations to encourage their employees or members to take a day for democracy to serve at the polls
